Tiger can regain #1 this week

If Tiger places 4th or better at the Nissan Open he will overtake Vijay as #1. It is OBVIOUS right now that he is NOT the #1 player as of this moment to me. The ranking system MUST be changed.

I'm not sure if it's "obvious". I mean, the guy did win this year already. And if he does pass Vijay this week, he is technically #1. But their points would be so close together, you'd have to consider them 1 and 1A, which is pretty much how I see it.

By that same logic you could say Justin Leonard or Stuart Appleby are #1 also simply by the fact that they won a tournament. Don't get me wrong. I love Tiger. But I think VJ and Phil are playing better right now. Tiger didn't exactly have a stellar showing at Torrey, it was just good enough.

I do think the battle for #1 is making things more interesting. After all that is why it was so fun to have Arnie, Jack, Gary, Lee and all the other greats battling it out. For a while there we had no real competition for Tiger.
