Abandon ship!

Former Masters champion Ian Woosnam has withdrawn from the rain delayed BellSouth supposedly due back problems. Yeah right. I bet his back feels better by Thursday.

Four other players withdrew Friday. They included Stuart Appleby, ranked No. 13 in the world, Chris DiMarco, ranked No. 15, Steve Flesch and David Peoples. David Peoples is not in the Masters however.

Here's the DNS list: Chris Perry, Chris Dimarco, Bob Burns, Ian Woosnam, David Peoples, Luke Donald, Ken Green, Steve Flesch and Stuart Appleby.

The players who no show do have to submit a reason to the PGA within 14 days. I'm sure all the players who are in the Masters will site "health reasons" for missing the BellSouth.

If I were a pro I would simply write "Masters" as my reason to withdraw.

That's more than a good enough reason. Even if I weren't invited to play in the Masters. I would still need rest to watch it in all its glory!
